Dr. Nitin Shah is Professor of Anesthesiology and Critical Care at Loma Linda University Health and a prominent leader of the Jain community. Dr. Shah has devoted his life to serving the underprivileged worldwide. Over the past 32 years, he has organized and led hundreds of humanitarian missions across 27 countries, personally traveling to 19 of them. His work has focused on providing essential medical care to underserved populations, driven by a deep commitment to global health equity.

Compassion for others is a core teaching of all major religions. In this talk, I will share my personal experiences of compassionate practices in the field of global health and wellness. I will discuss how individuals can incorporate compassion-based healthcare activities into their daily routines, along with the common challenges faced when serving others selflessly. Additionally, I will offer practical suggestions on how to overcome these obstacles while maintaining a focus on both personal well-being and community service. This talk will highlight the importance of balancing self-care with service to others, ensuring sustainable, long-term compassionate practice in healthcare related work.
